Gender:Girl (as opposed to 'female'!)
Location: London

No other cut-and-dried defination is available simply because I do not define myself in other ways. I can identify that I am a girl, cos, for the moment, I am quite happy being one. At least, being a girl doesn't bother me. And for the moment, I'm living in London and I feel absolutely a Londoner, albeit a non-native one.

"what's that I smell in the air...?"

"... the american dreeaam..."

this news is a bit belated... but i'm finally, DEFINITELY going to the US to work this summer... and there are no more hitches!! =)

cos at first my summer plans were hanging in the air... what with the to-be-or-not-to-be kkh plans (i still plan to carry that through some day though.. just not in the next couple of years), then the work in UK/US plans. then after complications and all sorts of contortions, when i finally decided on the BUNAC work exchange plan, there was the trouble of first getting the job. after that was settled, there's the application and visa-getting, and my exams, by which time my employer threatened to withdraw the job offer. so finally on 25th june, the visa came through. and just last night, 26th... i got the email from marianne saying that sh e had received my housing deposit and will hold the job for me till i get to connecticut on 2nd july.

oh man!!!!!! i can't believe i'll be honest-to-goodness WORKING in the USA!!!! i'm really really going to be WORKING there... for two glorious months!!! =) unglam though it may be - i'm working in the "Food Section"... that probably means dishwashing or vegetable-chopping or whatever... but still... the ever-sunny land... okay... realistically, i know that can't possibly be true. but in my mind, that's what the US is... a land where the sun always shines... more like california actually.

i know i know. american culture is non-existent... its crass, crude, superficial, plastic... whatever. as snooty culture goes, america doesn't hold a light to europe... though its trying pretty hard. and as a lit student, and a refined (?), cultured (?) person, i really ought to revere the Old World more. but i can't help loving america... or least the IDEA of it... the youth, the exuberance, the constant shifting about and inventing, the spirit... maybe that's not true in the end... maybe america isn't like that in the end. but i'd really want to experience it... to live there... for at least a couple of months... so that i can either come back more firmly entrenched in my pro-american idealism, or totally disillusioned. although it will probably end somewhere in the middle... where my "american dream" loses some of its rosy fuzz-glow around it, and yet i learn other admirable facets of america which are not more widely publicised.

scotland trip

i'm back from glasgow and edinburgh. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN GLASGOW -- DON'T GO TO GLASGOW! unless you want to shop, admittedly. i think i did more shopping in glasgow in one afternoon than i've done all calendar year! but it's really quite cheap... bought a dirty denim jacket and a pair of jeans, both kids size... practically everyone wears denim jackets in summer, so i thought it'd be really fun and really british (in rome, do as the romans do.. in britain, do as the british do!! :p) to get a denim jacket also.

sometimes it's good to be back in london. the comforts and familiarity of home... even if "home" is now a messy disarray of boxes and half-packed up belongings.

this scottish trip has been... many things at once. it's one of those events, like so many in my life... where loads of things yet nothing happened.

life goes on...

10:03 p.m.

i'm back and on a roll. just got my laptop back... FINALLY. right now i'm rebuilding my laptop from scratch... downloading music, winamp, icq, restoring my icq history files, and tweaking my main website, transferring stuff over, learning how to use the new ftp client etc. it's a bit hassley and tiring. but i'm glad to be back again, doing what i like best...

but soon, i'll have to leave my laptop behind again, and go laptop-less for ages and ages again. and my pitas weblog will be super long again... cos i can't archive it until i get to transfer the important entries to the main site.

i'm also packing up my room, preparing to store all my stuff over the summer... and tonight i'm going to stayover at stansted airport for a 6.45am flight to glasgow tomorrow. i'll spend 4 days in edinburgh and glasgow. wish i could visit the isle of skye though... but i'll save it for another time... since it's special to me. but i'm so happy the isle of skye is in the UK, and i'll get to go there one day. yay!! =)

by the way... jinnie thinks i haven't changed. phew... although that might be bad as well... cos i don't think i've ever been the nicest and most caring and conscientious of persons. hmph.... =)
